regarding all the hype about this release, i was expecting something really badass and glorious.
...then there was disappointment.
it's just typical nordic doodle-melo-death.! annoying because of the shitload of doodles, the growls are generic as fuck, the few clean parts are just shockingly terrible.
this isn't special or outstanding in any good sense.

First record for awhile, that gave me goosebumps. So it's obviously very good. Is it their best effort? I don't know yet. There is some Above the weeping world, Winters gate and Shadows vibe here. There are beautiful melodies and lots of sadness and melancholy, and their core sound is kept, for sure. They improved their solos too. I love how the songs are developing into the majestic climax like Pale Morning Star. Best melodeath band without any doubt, and they still fail to disapoint me. AOTY probably, with so much contenders this year. Thanks Insomnium.
