I don't understand how someone could go through all the trouble of leaking an album, and then choosing to export it at 256kbps.

It's the leaked earlier version released for reviewing purposes, next Friday is the official release date, then GetMetal will have the 320bps and FLAC, and maybe later the CD-Rip Version.

So what you're saying is that material sent for review are of poorer quality ? I doubt that. The ripper could have definitely extracted 320kbps if he wanted. Lana's question above is very legit in my eyes.

Ricardo666Jesus is correct. Review versions are sent digitally (they usually don't mail reviewers CDs like they did in the old days) and normally are sent already compressed at bitrates lower than 320kbps (although there are some exceptions).

I reviewed albums for Inside Out Music (Haken's label) for a couple years and all the promos they gave me were 192kbps.
